CHAPEL HILL, JAN. 18, 2010 – Students for Students International (S4Si) will send a delegation of four students to Tanzania this summer. S4Si is a student-run nonprofit organization based at UNC-Chapel Hill that provides scholarships to high-achieving girls in Zanzibar, an island off the coast of Tanzania. Amanda Gabriel, Alison Grady, Hampton Neal, and Nida Waheed, all members of S4Si, will travel to Zanzibar to select the new scholarship recipients, check in with current Scholars, and meet with local community leaders and officials to plan for the year ahead.
The summer delegation is S4Si’s way of staying personally connected with its scholars. Delegation members are expected to share their experience with the larger body of S4Si upon their return, through stories, pictures, videos, and letters. The delegation will also face the challenging task of selecting the most qualified young women with the greatest demonstrated need to become our next class of scholars.
