April Member of the Month: Sarah Smith

Sarah Smith is a graduating senior at UNC studying Anthropology, Social and Economic Justice, and Asian Studies. Throughout her undergraduate career, Sarah has been intricately involved with various campus organizations dedicated to service and education. As a leading member of the Carolina Union Activities Board (CUAB), Sarah has many campus-wide connections and knows how to get things done! Consequently, Sarah has been a major asset to the S4Si Outreach committee by helping to establish partnerships between S4Si and other student organizations.

Of note, Sarah has helped S4Si get involved with GenerAction week, has acted as a S4Si delegate by requesting funding from CUAB to support "S4Si Movie Nights" and, most recently, organized S4Si's 1st annual "Open Mic Night" at Jack Sprat.

In preparation for open mic night, Sarah took it upon herself to contact performers and create a stellar schedule for the night to ensure that entertainment was provided every minute of the night! She recruited all kinds of talent, from a Capella groups like Tarheel Voices to comedians to impressive instrumentalists. The staff at Jack Sprat admitted that it was the most talented open mic night they had ever hosted! Thanks to Sarah's hard work and dedication, S4Si's 1st open mic night was a huge success. Her commitment to S4Si is admirable and has had many direct impacts on the organization as a whole.

Congratulations, Sarah, our member of the month for April 2010! Your work is outstanding and very much appreciated.
