Our Partner

We believe that our programs are most effective and sustainable when we work in collaboration with the communities of our Scholars. To this end, we partner with the local branch of Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE), a pan-African NGO that shares our commitment to promoting women’s education. Founded in 1992, FAWE is headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya and has networks in 35 sub-Saharan countries. Across the continent, they have promoted policies in favor of female education, demonstrated positive models for addressing gender disparities in education, and highlighted best practices in various countries. In Zanzibar, collaboration with FAWE allows our organization to maintain a constant presence on the ground throughout the year. FAWE is an outstanding resource for our Scholars and a recognized leader in the community. When we began this program, Zanzibar Commissioner of Education, Maryam Yussuf, said, “I directed the S4Si students to this NGO because I know if they will support FAWE, it means they will support girls who are in our schools. I think the support from S4Si is quite relevant because I believe it will promote our girls' education in Zanzibar."
